East Ham coffee shops are apparently like buses: you wait around for ages and then three come along at once!
It’s true, our little corner of East Ham South has gone from no coffee shops to THREE in a few short months. We have Parkside Cafe now serving a mean Latte ( the addition of plants means we have upgraded it from ‘cafe’ to ‘coffee shop’), we have the Larder in Central Park and now the newest: D&D Patisserie.
D&D is the hero of our blog post:- a Romanian Patisserie and coffee house which has set up shop on High Street South, right next to Kim’s Fresh and Fruity meaning we can now tip the scales in East Ham’s favour on the ‘chicken shop vs coffee shop’ ratio. #goingupintheworld
The newest and cosiest coffee shop in E6
D&D is the newest coffee shop on the block and by far the cosiest on a winter’s day (in our humble…). We made our visit on a grey December afternoon in the chucking rain and to our delight, found friendly staff, a creamy Latte and some deliciously tempting cakes and cookies all packaged up in a rustic farmhouse interior. Be warned, this is not a brunch or lunch stop – no smashed avocados in here – this little gem is no messing, pure coffee and cake (ok yes, they do serve tea if you are feeling all British about it, but Parkside next door is really the place for builders tea #justsayin).
It’s all about the cookies and cakes
The counter of this cake shop is covered in, well, cake (oh and cookies). From Traditional Romanian cakes to the classic lemon drizzle and chocolate brownie, plus a vast expanse of cookies (Turkish Delight cookie? Yes please!). They serve proper coffee, and a range or herbal teas (prices range from £1.40 for an Espresso and £1 for cookies), so this really should be your elevensies spot for the near future.
A calming interior and an East Edge mag stockist
The inside is all calming shades of neutral, with bistro tables, soft lighting and French farm house dressers. Its a tranquil way to spend a morning or afternoon, Grab the spot at the window for optimum people watching opportunities (high street South is a hive of activity after all!).
The final win: these guys stock the awesome East Edge magazine (your complimentary guide to E6 and the outer East London). So get down here, grab the latest copy with your coffee of choice and settle down for a moment of peace amongst the hubbub.
