East Blam’s High 5 of 2015!

2015, you are OUTTA HERE! but before you become a distant memory along with pine needles, mince pies and um, FUN (‘No Fun January’ is upon us after all!), a moment of reflection is in order.  It has been a year since we landed on the shores of East Ham and began our exploration of the Far East{Londons} so to celebrate, here is a list of our top 5 most favouritest discoveries

1. RED DOOR STUDIOS

Dear Red Door. Thank you! Without you, East Ham would be just another London Suburb (albeit one with great parks and very pretty floor tiles). Thank you for bringing Live Music, Art and Crafts, A Saturday Cafe, Life Drawing,  and Yoga classes our way in 2015. Thank you for having an exceptionally cute dog, a giant Homer Simpson painting and serving a mighty fine Lemon Drizzle cake. We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us for 2016.

2. TIPPY’S CAFE

Tippy, we LOVE your cosy cafe. You serve the best noodles in East Ham. We love your smily service, your sticky pudding rice and your BYO ways. Keep up the great work. If you haven’t tried Tippy’s yet, you can get the low down here.

3. THE LOVE NEWHAM & WHAT’S ON IN NEWHAM APPS

Well Done to Newham Council for their super handy apps… The Love Newham app is a great way to contribute to making East Ham HAM-AZING (yes, we went there!) by reporting fly tipping and the What’s On in Newham app is a great way to keep up to date with all the borough’s activities. Both get a big TICK from EastBlam. Download them now, if you don’t have them already (Linky: Whats on in Newham, Love Newham).

4. MINH’s VIETNAMESE.

If you haven’t seen our post on Minh’s in Plaistow, check it out here. Honestly THE best Pho we have had, and that includes the award winners on Kingsland Road. It is not quite in East Ham, but is only a stones throw away so start your 2016 the way you mean to go on, with some rejuvenating noodley-soupy-goodness.

5. THE EAST HAMMER.

This gets the ‘LOL’D-A-LOT 2015’ award from EastBlam. This new and tongue in cheek blog takes a satirical look at the underbelly of East Ham and gives us all something to laugh about. Check it out here.

Also a  big shout out to the Greatfield Residents association (for their great blog, Market and also for generally being good eggs) and Central Park (because it is totes beaut, read all about it here). Ok so maybe it was a High 7 of 2015. But it didn’t have such a nice ring to it. ;0)

Who knows what 2016 will bring.

2016 will be an interesting time for Newham, dealing with the effects of the hike in house prices, government spending cuts and the loss of the Hammers to the Olympic Park. Our new years resolution is to continue the exploration of the Far East{Londons}, to shop locally, brave our local boozers, try our next door takeaways and nod to our neighbours once in a while.

What are yours?
